Dementia Friends

CCP is on a mission to enable fantastic, useful support for people living with Dementia, their Carers  and Families across West Northumberland.   We work in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society,  The Chrysalis Club and The Blue Book.

74 people from across West Northumberland have successfully completed Dementia Friends training with us so far.

  • If you or your organisation, church or place of work would like to become a Dementia Friend, a Dementia Friendly Building or activity, we would love to help make it happen: just let us know.
  • The Blue Book is a summary of all the activities and support available for older people and is free of charge. If anyone would like a copy,  or multiple copies,  please click here:  Get your copy | The Blue Book (the-blue-book.org.uk)  or use The Blue Book link at the bottom of this page.
  • If you are already a Dementia Friend and would like to receive our Newsletter just let us know.
  • We are currently working with two Carers who would like to set up a Carers Support Café in the Falstone area: if you would like to be involved in this in any way, you would be very welcome: do let us know.
  • CCP is in discussion with Anna Chaplaincy for Older People and Nic Denyer, Diocese of Newcastle, to explore a potential opportunity to enable Anna Chaplaincy for Older People across the churches in West Northumberland.

If your church is interested, do have a look at the Anna Chaplaincy website www.annachaplaincy.org.uk and then get in contact with Nic: n.denyer@newcastle.anglican.org or us.

Feedback from our Dementia Friends training event:

I just wanted to extend a huge thank you to yourself, Helen, and all involved for such an engaging, thought provoking and accessible event last night.

That was so well done and great arrangements. Thank you so much!

Thank you for organising the Dementia Friends Evening.  It was so informative and interesting and has really deepened my understanding.  Much appreciated!

That was a very stimulating and thought-provoking evening on the subject of dementia awareness, thank you. Even though I came along with previous experience of my late mother’s 10 years of being significantly affected, I learnt many useful points and feel encouraged by the proactive and supportive approach of the Alzheimer’s Society in our region. Many thanks again for organising this worthwhile presentation!
